Cruise Industry Organizations

Information about cruise line professional and trade organizations, port operator associations, cruise line advocacy organizations, and other associations related to the cruise line industry.

American Association of Port Authorities
Founded in 1912 by a group of port officials from eleven United States ports to exchange ideas related to port organization and operation and develop uniform methods of port administration. The organization's original name was the National Association of port Authorities but it was changed to its current name in 1914 when membership was open to administrators of ports in other American countries.

Cruise Lines International Association
Organization founded in 1975 that is dedicated to the promotion and growth of the cruise industry servicing North America. In 2006 the organization merged with the International Council of Cruise lines, an organization created in 1990 to participate in the regulatory and policy development process of the cruise industry.

International Council of Cruise Lines
Merged with the Cruise Lines International Association in 2006.

Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance (NCMA)
Aassociation of cruise lines offering cruises on yacht-like vessels to medium sized classic cruise ships.

Passenger Vessel Association
Advocacy organization focused on issues and concerns relevant to owners and operators of passenger vessels and manufacturers of maritime-related products and services.

The Transportation Institute
Founded in 1967

World Ship Society
Organization founded in 1946 that is dedicated to international maritime and naval history. The organization publishes a journal called the "Marine News" and it maintains a library of historic photos.
