Hawaiian Pupu Recipes

Pupu is the Hawaiian name for appetizers or snacks. The word is pronounced like the English "poo poo", so if you are invited to a party, and your host says they will be providing "heavy poo poos", don't be shocked - it's not what you might think! Your host will be serving substantial hors d'oeuvres and snacks, and it will be a delicious and mostly likely very filling meal.

Coconut Chips
These baked coconut chips are a bit of work, because you need to open a coconut and pry out the meat, but they are a perfect snack for a tropical cocktail party.

Bacon Wrapped Pupu
Recipes for a variety of bacon wrapped items that can be served as appetizers or snacks. Includes bacon wrapped shrimp, water chestnuts, olives, pickles, and cheese.

Curried Cheese Plate
A mixture of cream cheese and cheddar cheese that is seasoned with sherry and curry, topped with a variety of condiments, and served it with crackers.

Teriaki SPAM Musubi
Musubi is a form of sushi and one of the most popular versions in Hawaii is made with the canned pork luncheon meat called SPAM.
