Pickled Maui Onions Recipe

This recipe for pickled Maui onions contain vinegar and sugar and it is flavored with Hawaiian chile peppers.
Ingredients:
  • 3 large Maui onions
  • 3 Hawaiian chili peppers
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Hawaiian salt

    Instructions:
    Peel onions, cut each one in half crosswise, anad then cut each half into 8 sections. Cut chiles in half and remove the seeds. Layer onions and chiles in jars. Mix water, vinegar, sugar, anhd salt, and stir until sugar and salt are dissolved. Pour mixture over the onions, adding enough to fill each jar. Allow the onions to marinate at room temperature for at least two days, and then refrigerate.
