Space Shuttle Challenger Mission STS 51-L
Tragedy on January 28, 1086

Lieutenant Colonel Ellison Onizuka's second space flight was as a mission specialist on Space Shuttle Challenger flight STS 51-L. That flight was launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, at 11:38:00 EST on January 28, 1986. The entire Challenger crew was killed when the shuttle exploded 1 minute and 13 seconds after it was launched.

Space Shuttle Challenger flight STS 51-L was Ellison Onizuka's second space flight. The entire crew of the 51-L flight died on January 28, 1986 when Challenger exploded 1 minute and 13 seconds after it was launched.
