Diamond Head Hotels in Waikiki
Oahu, Hawaii

Hotels, condominium units, and bed and breakfast inns located on the far Diamond Head end of Waikiki. The accommodations in this area are about 15 minutes walking distance from the restaurants, entertainment, and shops of Central Waikiki. That distance from Waikiki is a plus for some people and a negative for others.

The Lotus at Diamond Head Hotel is the new name of the former W Honolulu Hotel, and the hotel is now managed by Castle Resorts. Before it was a Castle or W Hotel, it was known for many years as the Colony East Hotel. The hotel is one building away from the ocean, on Kalakaua Avenue, across the street from 108 acre Kapiolani Park. The hotel does not have a swimming pool but it is only a short walk away from San Souci Beach and Kapiolani Beach Park. The fine dining Diamond Head Grill Restaurant is located on the second floor of the Lotus at Diamond Head Hotel.

The other full service hotel on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki is the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel, a nine story, 124 room, moderately priced hotel that was built in 1964. The Kaimana Beach Hotel sits directly on San Souci Beach and one of its most charming features is the very romantic, beachfront Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant. Other dining options include a high-end Japanese restaurant on the second floor, a snack shop, and a convenience store. The New Otani Hotel is the first hotel on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki so many of its rooms have beautiful unobstructed views of Waikiki and the ocean. Some of the rooms facing in the the other direction have spectacular views of Diamond Head Crater.

The fourteen story, 65 unit Diamond Head Beach Hotel is located directly on the seawall between two taller buildings. There is no beach in front of the hotel but it has a grassy, waterfront, sunning area and a patio with barbecues, picnic tables, and views of the ocean. The hotel is very close to San Souci Beach, the white sand swimming beach in front of the New Otani Hotel. The Diamond Head Beach Hotel is primarily a residential condominium building so don't expect full hotel services here. Repeat visitors love the hotel's quiet location, reasonable prices, and lovely waterfront sitting area.

The Diamond Head Bed and Breakfast Inn is located in a residential neighborhood on the Diamond Head of of Waikiki and it has three guest rooms available. Rooms have private bathrooms and they are furnished with koa wood items and the owner's family heirlooms. The ground floor suite offers the most privacy and it has a giant four poster bed that once belonged to Princess Ruth of Hawaiian royal family. The Diamond Head B&B has reasonable rates and an old Hawaii feel. Located at 3240 Noela Drive.

Vacation Homes and Condos
If you search the Web and look through local newspapers you may also find a vacation home or a condo for rent on the Diamond head end of Waikiki, however many (but not all) of them will have a 30 day minimum stay.
