Oahu Running Events

Information about marathons, half marathons, 10k races, triathlons, biathlons, and other longer and shorter distance running events on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Marathons on Oahu
The only full marathon (40 kilometer) event I know about on the island of Oahu is the world famous Honolulu Marathon that takes place every December. The route for the Honolulu Marathon circles Diamond Head Crater and ends in Waikiki.

Triathlons on Oahu
Information about the Honolulu Triathlon in Ala Moana Park, the Tinman Triathlon in Waikiki, and other multi-sport events on the island of Oahu that require competitors to run, cycling, and swim in the same race.

Great Aloha 13K Run
This 13 kilometer race from downtown Honolulu to the Aloha stadium was founded by Hawaiian entertainer Carole Kai was founded in 1985 to raise money for more then 100 charities in Hawaii. More then 20,000 runners typically participate. The race takes place every year on the United States President's Day holiday, which is usually the third Monday in February. The route begins near the Aloha Tower, continues past the Honolulu Airport, and ends inside the Aloha Stadium.

HURT 100 Mile Off-Road Trail Race
Runners in this annual ultra distance marathon in Honolulu cover 100 miles on a 20 mile loop that begins at the Hawaii Nature Center and winds through Tantalus, the Manoa Valley, the Nuuanu Valley, and back. Aloha State Games 10K Run
The Aloha State Games includes a 10K running in Kapiolani Park that typically takes place in June.

Oahu Perimeter Relay Run
A 134 mile team relay run around the island of Oahu. The race begins and ends at Richardson Field, which is located across the highway from the Aloha Stadium. Each team has seven runners and two support vehicles. Each team member must run 3 relay legs and no team member can run two consecutive legs of the race. The fastest time for this race is slightly over 12 hours.

Sharon's Ride-Run-Walk
An annual running, cycling, and walking benefit for epilepsy that takes place every year in Honolulu, typically in January.

Niketown 5K for Kids
An annual running event for kids with two distances, five kilometers and one mile. The event begins and ends at NIKETOWN on Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu.
