Pacific Aviation Museum of Pearl Harbor
Grand Opening December 7, 2006

The Pacific Aviation Museum in Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu will open on December 7, 2006. There will be a public opening ceremony at 11:00 with VIP guest speakers.

The highly anticipated Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor will open to the public on December 7, 2006. Located at Pearl Harborís Ford Island, a National Historic Landmark and the site of our nationís first aviation battlefield, the PAM will tell the story of military aviation in the Pacific during World War II. The first phase of the Museum is 42,442 square feet and located within Hanger 37. Future phases will be built at Hanger 79 and Hangar 54 and tell additional stories of the Korean War, Vietnam War and Cold War.

"The Pacific Aviation Museum is a significant addition to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites -- USS Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin Memorial Submarine Museum and the USS Missouri Memorial, we are honored to be celebrating the Museumís grand opening on the 65th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day," said Allan Palmer, executive director and chief executive officer of PAM. "We are proud to share the historic stories of men and women aviators of the Pacific and pay tribute to those whose bravery helped give us the freedom we enjoy today." The grand opening ceremony on December 7, 2006 is open to the public. The Pacific Fleet Band will entertain visitors at 11:00 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation of colors by the Air Force Honor Guard followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Danny Kaleikini, a local legend in Hawaiian entertainment. Guest speakers at the ceremony include:
