Oahu festivals in October include the Oahu Children and Youth Day Festival,
the Cool Kailua Nights Block Party, the Hawaii International Film Festival,

Children and Youth Day Festival

This festival in the downtown capitol district of Honolulu is an all-day family event
that kicks off Children and Youth Month in Hawaii. Events and activities at
the festival typically include sports tournaments, physical fitness
demonstrations, film screenings, and live entertainment. Honolulu's
2009 Children and Youth Day Festival will take place Sunday, October 4, 2009
from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Punchbowl street between Beretania Street and

Cool Kailua Nights Block Party
Annual block party and health awareness fair that takes place every October
in the East Oahu town of Kailua. The event is typically attended by about
1000 people. The 2009 Cool Kailua Nights street fair is scheduled to take place
Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Portions of Uluniu Street and
Aulike Street will be closed to auto traffic during the event.
Hawaii International Film Festival
The main film festival under the umbrella of the Hawaii International
Film Festival takes place in the Fall on Oahu, usually for two weeks in October.
The 29th Annual Hawaii International Film Festival will take place
October 15-25, 2009 and it will feature more then 180 films from more
then 30 countries.
Honolulu Talk Story Festival
The 21st Annual Talk Story Festival presented by the City and County
of Honolulu Parks and Recreation Department will take place on three evenings,
October 9-11, 2009, at the McCoy Pavilion in Honolulu's Ala Moana Park.
The stories will be enhanced by video and lighting effects and stories
will be interpreted into sign language. The door will open at 5:00 p.m.
each night and the event is free.
Day at Queen Emma Summer Palace
The 33rd Annual Day at Queen Emma Summer Palace event took
place October 3, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
event featured all-day Hawaiian music and dancing,
Native Hawaiian crafts and cultural demonstrations,
a beer and wine garden, local food, and
a sale featuring baked goods, jellies, chutneys, and other items.

InterTribal Native American PowWow
The 35th Annual Intertribal Powwow at Thomas Square in
Downtown Honolulu will take place October 3-4, 2009.
The event will feature Native North American dancing,
drumming, singing, and cultural presentations and activities.
