Haleiwa Arts Festival
Annual festival on Oahu's north shore featuring
visual arts, musicians, singers, dancers, cultural
trolley tours, storytellers, art demonstrations,
and children's activities. The 12th Annual
Haleiwa Arts Festival will take place July 18-19, 2009.
Hawaii Clean Energy Festival
Concert and festival featuring clean energy exhibits,
children's games, eco-friendly food vendors, clean energy
related prizes, and live entertainment. The 2009
Hawaii Powered Clean Energy Festival will take place at the
Aloha Tower Marketplace on July 18, 2009 and it featured
performances by Henry Kapono, Brother Noland, and the
Hawaii State Farm Fair
Annual agriculture fair on the grounds of the Bishop
Museum featuring a 4-H livestock exhibit and auction,
a fresh produce farmer's market, a huge plant sale,
cooking demonstrations, a corn husking contest, a
watermelon eating contest, and many different types
of food. The 37th Annual Hawaii State Farm Fair will
take place Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19, 2009.
Honolulu Family Festival
Annual family festival held in the Magic Island
section of Ala Moana Park, usually in July or August.
Activities and events at the festival typically include
live music all day, food booths, and activities for kids such
as puppet shows, acrobats, and games. The 2009 Honolulu Family Festival
will take place July 30 through August 2, 2009 and peformers
will include Henry Kapono, Holunape, Kapena, Hot Stuff,
Nina Kealiiwahamana, Marlene Sai, Bev Noa,
Karen Keawehawaii, Misty Kelai, Iwalani Kamahele,
the Royal Hawaiian Band, and comedian Frank DeLima.
Hula Hoolauna Aloha Festival
Korean Festival of Hawaii
Annual Korean culture festival that takes place
every July at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand.
Features live Korean dance performances, Korean
martial arts demonstrations, exhibits of Korean
art and artifacts, and Korean food booths.
The 8th Annual Korean Festival of Hawaii too
place on July 11, 2009.
Pacific Region Talk Story Conference
The Inaugural Pacific Region Talk Story Conference organized
by storyteller Jeff Gere will take place July 16-20, 2009 at
the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki. The event includes
workshops, storytelling sessions, and public storytelling
Prince Lot Hula Festival
An non-competitive, all day hula festival founded in 1978 that
is held every year in July at Moanalua Gardens in
Honolulu's Kamananui Valley. The 32nd Annual Prince
Lot Hula Festival will take place July 18, 2009.
Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition
A hula contest for children and young people
that includes a Miss Keiki Hula and Master
Hula competition, and a group competition
with both modern and ancient hula categories.
The 34th Annual Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula
Competition will take place July 16-18, 2009.
Surf and Music Expo
Trade show at the Blaisdell Arena is
focused on surfboards and other surfing
products, amny different types of
popular music, and the local island lifestyle.
The 2009 event took place July 31 through
August 2, 2009.
Te Mahana Hiroa O Tahiti
An annual Tahitian dance competition for children
and teens at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Northeast
Oahu. The 9th Annual Te Mahana Hiroa O Tahiti took
place July 10-11, 2009.
Ukulele Festival Hawaii
This annual ukulele festival has been presented by Honolulu
ukulele school owner Roy Sakuma for nearly 40 years and it always
features some of the most famous ukulele players from
Hawaii and around the world. The 39th Annual Ukulele Festival
Hawaii will take place at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand
on Sunday, July 19, 2009.
