Flavors of Honolulu
The 2008 Flavors of Honolulu Festival
took place June 27-29, 2008 on the grounds
of the Honolulu Civic Center. The
event featured cooking demonstrations,
educational activities, a country store,
and continuous live entertainment.

The 2008 Garlic and Ginger Festival
of Hawaii took place June 10, 2008.
The event featured food prepared by
the chefs at some of Oahu's top
restaurants plus garlic ice cream,
garlic massages, a wine tent, martini
bar, beer station, silent auction, and
a store for garlic and ginger lovers.
The Garlic and Ginger Festival of Hawaii
is a benefit for the Hawaii Chapter of
the American Red Cross and the

The event featured food prepared
by some of Oahu's best local chefs
and a silent auction. The event is
an annual benefit for the
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Honolulu.

Greek Festival of Honolulu
The 28th annual Honolulu Greek Festival
took place August 23-24 in the McCoy Pavilion
at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu.
The event featured greek food, live music,
and cultural prsentations. It is prsented
by the Saint Constantine and Saint Helen
Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The 2008 Honolulu Greek Festival will
take place August 22-23, 2009 in Ala Moana Park.
Joy of Sake Celebration
The 2008 Joy of Sake Honolulu event
took place August 28, 2008 at
the Hawaii Convention Center.
It featured more then 300 different sakes made in Japan
and the United States and sushi and sake
appetizers prepared by chefs at some of Honolulu's
L'ulu - formerly called "Taste of the Stars"

In 2008 the annual Taste of the Stars
event was renamed "L'ulu" and it took
place May 10, 2008 on the campus of
Leeward Community College. The event is
a benefit for the college's Culinary Institute of
the Pacific. For information about this

2008 Honolulu Advertiser Event Announcement
Made in Hawaii Festival
The 13th annual Made in Hawaii Festival
took place August 15-17, 2008 at the
Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall and Area.
The event featured more then 400 exhibitors
offering products made in Hawaii such as
art, clothing, food, home furnishings, jewelry,
toys, fresh produce plans, and Hawaiian handicrafts.
The Made in Hawaii Festival is produced by
the Hawaii Food Industry Association.
Taste of the Arts Festival

The Second Annual Taste of the Arts Street Festival
took place Friday, September 19, 2008 from
6:00 to 10"00 p.m. on Nuuanu Avenue in
Downtown Honolulu. The event featured
chef demonstrations, wine tastings, and live
music by John Cruz and other musicians
on three stages. The first Honolulu
Taste of the Arts Festival took place
September 14, 2007. The event Web site

Taste of Honolulu Festival
This annual outdoor Honolulu food
and entertainment festival takes place
in June at the Honolulu Civic Center and
it is a benefit for Easter Seals Hawaii.
Taste of Kapolei
The Ninth Annual Taste of Kapolei event
took place October 4, 2008, from
5:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Ulua Lagoon (Lagoon 4)
on the grounds of the Ko Olina Resort
in West Oahu. The event featured food
prepared by the chefs of some of Hawaii's top
restaurants followed by a fireworks display.
The event was presented by the Rotary Club
Wahiawa Pineapple Festival
The 5th Annual Wahiawa Pineapple Festival
took place May 17, 2008 at Wahiawa District
Park in Wahiawa. The event featured
historical and educational displays,
pineapple recipe contests, pineapple food items
for sale, and lots of family activities.

Waikiki Spam Jam
This popular annual event is one of the world's largest
tributes to SPAM, a canned luncheon meat that is
hugely popular in Hawaii. Includes booths with
SPAM food items and SPAM theme products, a SPAM
eating contest a Mr. and Mrs. SPAM contest, and live
entertainment. Typically takes place in April or May.
The 6th annual Waikiki Spam Jam took place
May 3, 2008. The 7th annual Waikiki Spam Jam
will take place Saturday, April 25, 2009 from
4:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.
