Oahu Cultural Festivals
A guide to ethnic, regional, and other cultural festivals
on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Includes the Aloha Festival,
the Honolulu Festival, and the Pan Pacific Festival.
Aloha Festival
The Oahu events in this island-wide Hawaiian culture festival
include a Downtown Ho'olaule'a, a Waikiki Ho'olaule'a,
a parade in Waikiki, and various event throughout the
year.
Honolulu Festival
A large annual festival organized by the Honolulu Festival Foundation.
Event includes a grand parade and cultural exhibits,
dance performances, and craft demonstrations
at the Hawaii Convention Center,
Ala Moana Shopping Center, and the Royal Hawaiian
Shopping Center. The 12th annual event
will take place March 10-12, 2006.
Pan Pacific Festival
A large Honolulu festival that began in 1980 as a cultural
exchange between Japan and Hawaii. In Hawaii the event
is called the Pan-Pacific Festival and in Japan is is
known as Matsuri in Hawaii. Events include
a Waikiki Ho'olaule'a, performances and festivities
in Kapiolani Park, and a parade. Organized
by Kintetsu International Express.
Hispanic Heritage Festival
The annual Hawaii Hispanic Heritage Festival takes
place every October and it is a celebration the rich Hispanic heritage
of many of Hawaii's residents. The event usually takes place
at the bandstand in Kapiolani Park on the Diamond Head end of
Waikiki.
Hawaii Korean Festival
This annual celebration of Korean Culture
is an opportunity for the Korean Community
in Hawaii to share their culture with Hawaii
visitors and residents.
Hawaii Okinawan Festival
This festival celebrating Okinawan culture
usually takes place at the bandstand in Kapiolani
park in September.
Portuguese Festa
An annual festival celebrating the Portuguese heritage of Hawaii

World Fireknife Competition and Samoa Festival
An annual fire knife twirling and dancing
competition and festival held at the Polynesian
Cultural Center in Laie, on the North shore of Oahu.
