Quicksilver Big Wave Invitational
In Memory of Eddie Aikau
The Quicksilver Big Wave Invitational is a big wave surfing
competition at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii.
The event can only take place on A day on which the open-ocean
waves are at least 20 feet tall, translating to a wave face height
of more then 30 feet. The first Big Wave Invitational took place
in 19?? and as of 2006, the waves were only sufficintly large
to hold the event 7 times. The full name of the event is the "Quicksilver
Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau".
