History of the Quicksilver Big Wave Invitational

The full name of the event is the "Quicksilver, Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau".

The Big Wave Invitational Surfing Competition was founded in 1986to honor the legendary lifeguard and surfer Eddie Aikau, who died during one of his rescue attempts.
