20080 Oahu Aloha Festival

The 2008 Oahu Aloha Festival will begin on September 12, 2008 with the Royal Court Investitature and the Opening Ceremonies.

The 2008 Hawaii Aloha Festival is the 62nd annual event and in 2008 the event theme will be "Hula". Events Scheduled so far include:

September 12, 2008 (Friday)

EVENT: 2008 Oahu Royal Court Investiture
DATE: September 12 (Friday)
TIME: 9:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Waikiki, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
VENUE: Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort
DESCRIPTION: Event will feaure traditional chanting and hula performances. The 2008 Aloha Festivals Oahu Alii (royalty) - the king, queen, prince, and princess - will receive their royal symbols, including the royal cloak, helmet, and head feather lei.

2008 Oahu Opening Ceremony
DATE: September 12, 2008 (Friday)
TIME: 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Downtown Honolulu, Oahu, hawaii
VENUE: Iolani Palace
DESCRIPTION: This ceremony on the grounds of the Iolani Palace in the historic capitol district of downton Honolulu will feature traditional hula performances and chanting and the members of the Oahu royal court will be introduced.

2008 Waikiki Hooplaulea
TIME: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Waikiki, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
VENUE: Kalakaua Avenue Between Lewers and Kapahulu
DESCRIPTION: This will the the 56th year this annual street party has been held in Waikiki. Members of the royal court will kick off the event at 6:30 p.mm. Eight stages will be set up in the street and there will be plenty of hula, Hawaiian music, lei vendors, food booths, and craft booths. The festivities will be spread across 12 city blocks.

2008 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade
DATE: September 13, 2008 (Saturday)
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
LOCATION:
VENUE: Parade route is along Kalakaua Avenue from Ala Moana Beach Park to Kapiolani Park. The parade will feature floral floats, hula performers, horseback riders,and marching bands. Photographers can take pictures of the floats in Kapiolani Park after the parade and there will be arts and crafts booths in Kapiolani Park beginning at 12 noon.

2008 Aloha Tower Ukulele Contest
DATE: September 14, 2008 (Saturday)
TIME: to be announced
LOCATION: Downtown Honolulu Waterfront VENUE: Aloha Tower Marketplace
the 2008 event will be the second annual Aloha Tower Marketplace Ukulele Contest. It will take place on the center stage. for more inforamtion call 808-536-3226. See also the Official Event Announcement.
