Diamond Head Area Restaurants
Oahu, Hawaii

There are not many restaurants on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki and many of those that do exist are high quality but expensive. Examples are Michel's at the Colony Surf and the Diamond Head Grill, and the Hau Tree Lanai. There is a budget beach cafe and a convenience store on one side of the New Otani Hotel but most Hawaii visitors staying in the Diamond Head area end up walking into Waikiki for meals. Note that is is about a fifteen minute walk to the center of Waikiki from this area and much of that walk is through a somewhat dark, grassy, beach park area with little activity at night.

Diamond Head Market and Grill
Gourmet market, deli, and cafe on the corner of Monsarret Avenue and Campbell Avenue on the far Diamond Head end of Waikiki. (I have seen the address listed as both 3158 Monsarret Avenue and 3575 Campbell Avenue). Phone: 808-732-0077. On the bus route.

Diamond Head Grill
Fine dining restaurant on the second floor of the luxurious W Honolulu Hotel features a blend of Italian and California cuisine prepared by executive Chef Eric Sakai. (2885 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815. Phone: 808-922-3734)

Michel's at the Colony Surf
This Honolulu classic has been a popular special occasion restaurant for more then 40 years. It features classic French food and beautiful ocean views. First class service by waiters wearing tuxedos. (2895 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815. Phone: 808-923-6552)

Hau Tree Lanai
Romantic, outdoor, beachfront restaurant in the New Otani Kaimana Hotel. (2863 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815. Phone: 808-921-7066)

Miyako Japanese Restaurant
Fine Japanese cuisine and views of San Souci Beach and Waikiki. Located on the second floor of the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. (2863 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815. Phone: 808-921-7077)

Scoup Du Jour
This snack shop in the two-story wing of the New Otani Kaimana Hotel has ice cream, sandwiches, Spam musubi, and other simple snacks. Note that this is not the main hotel restaurant located on the beach. This cafe is located on the first floor of the low rise building next to the main hotel tower. (2863 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815)

New Otani Convenience Store
The convience store at the New Otani Hotel faces Kalakaua Boulevard is a small market that also carries beach supplies, souvenirs, and wrapped prepared foods such as sandwiches. More expensive then the Food Pantry in Waikiki but convenient if you are staying on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. (2863 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815)
