The 1800 acre park inside the Waimea Valley on Oahu's north shore was once marketed as an adventure activity destination. Today it is managed with a focus on respecting the valley's rich historical, cultural, botanical, and ecological heritage and attractions. Visitors are invited and encouraged to visit the park and enjoy its peaceful environment, cultural activities, historic attractions, natural features, and pristine grounds.

Hawaiian cultural activities inside the park include as storytelling sessions, craft workshops, lei making lessons, hula lessons, and Hawaiian music concerts, Visitors can also take a guided historic walk through they valley, a guided native plant walk, play traditional Hawaiian games, dine at the Waimea Valley Grill, walk through the park's botanical gardens, and swim in a natural pool at the base of a beautiful waterfall,

The Hawaii State Office of Hawaiian Affairs assumed management of Waimea Park in September of 2007. Before they took it over the park was managed by the Audubon Society and was called the Waimea Valley Audubon Center. During the 1990's it was operated as the Waimea Valley Adventure Park, and when the park first pened in 1974 it was called Waimea Valley Park, the name it bears again today.

Waimea Valley Park is on the north shore of Oahu, between the town of Haleiwa and Sunset Beach. The drive from Haleiwa to Waimea Valley Park takes about ten minutes and the drive from Waikiki - via Central Oahu - typically takes about an hour in light traffic.
