Town is about three miles long (5 kilometers)
Population about 10,000
About half are native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
30 minute drive from Honolulu
Located between Makapuu Point and the Kualoa Ranch
The town faces a long, white, sandy beach
Waimanalo is a primarily an agricultural community.
Farms and ranches are nestled against Koolau Mountains
Lots of ornamental plant farms, nurserys, and ranches
Waimanalo Beach was used for filming Baywatch Hawaii
Waimanalo almost 2000 acres of Hawaiian homestead lands
Something Interesting
When you are approaching Haimanalo from Honolulu on coast road
you will see an upside down Hawaiian state flag.
That flag is a defiant symbol of the Hawaiian sovereignty movement.
