Ainahau Estate and Princess Kaiulani
Waikiki Historic Trail Marker 8

Site number 8 on the Waikiki Historic Trail tells the story of Hawaii's Governor Cleghorn, his wife Princess Likelike, and their daughter Princess Kaiulani. Princess Likelike was the sister of Queen Liliuokalani.

Description of Marker 8
The text on marker number 8 describes the beautiful ten acre Ainahau estate that was once located in this part of Waikiki.It was owned by Hawaii Governor Cleghorn and his wife Princess Likelike, sister of Queen Liliuoklanai. It also decribes the meetings between writer Robert Louis Stevenson and Princess Kaiulani and how she was educated in England and died in Hawaii at age 23.

Location of Marker 8
Marker #3 is located in the traingle park on Kuhio Avenue where the Princess Kaiulani Statue os located. The marker is located in the corner of the park that faces the ocean.
