Town of Wahiawa
Central Oahu, Hawaii

An introduction to activities, events, hotels, and attractions in Wahiawa Town, Central Oahu. Wahiawa is located in Central Oahu and it was once the home of the Dole Pineapple Plantation, a train station, and at one time I believe there was even a hotel in Wahiawa. The historic plantation town of Wahiawa was founded in 1898 and the town had its Centennial Celebration in 1998.

Attractions in Wahiawa

Dole Pineapple Plantation
The Dole Plantation on Kamehameha Highway in Central Oahu was originally a fruit stand that opened in 1950 next to a pineapple field. It has been open to the public as a visitor attraction since 1989. Visitor attractions and activities include a huge walk-through maze, a narrated train tour around the grounds, a pineapple garden featuring species from around the world. a gift shop and a snack bar featuring "Dole Whip" frozen dessert treats and other snacks.

Wahiawa Botanical Garden
Twenty-seven acre garden and forest ravine used in the 1920's by sugar planters as an experimental arboretum.; Located at 1396 California in Wahiawa. For more information call 808-621-5463.

Hawaii Country Club and Golf Course
The golf course at the Hawaii Country Club in Wahiawa first opened in 1958 and it is often referred by the locals as the "golf course at Kunia", because it is located on Kunia Road, in Wahiawa, in the Kunia District of Central Oahu. For ;more information call the golf course at 808-621-5654.

Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area
Hawaii state park around Lake Wilson, a body of water in Central Oahu that is also known as the Wahiawa Reservoir.

Wahiawa Pineapple Festival
Annual Wahiawa festival focused around the pineapple plantation history of Wahiawa. The festival usually takes place in May or June.

Inn at Schofield Barracks
The Inn at Schofield Barracks is a small hotel located about halfway between Pearl Harbor and Haleiwa Town, near the Wahiawa Reservoir and the Kalakaua Golf Course, at 563 Kolekole Avenue in Wahiawa, Central Oahu. The inn has rooms in three categories: single rooms, double rooms, and superior rooms. All of the rooms are air conditioned and all of the have private bathrooms, microwave ovens, small refrigerators, and queen size beds.
