State recreation areas on the Island of Oahu include
Aiea Bay, Keaiwa Heiau, Malaekahana, Waahila Ridge,
Wahiawa Freshwater, and Sand Island.
Aiea Bay State Recreation Area
This park on the eastern shore of Pearl Harbor
is a popular spot for picnics and cycling.
Kea'iwa Heiau State Recreation Area
A recreation area on the south side of Oahu
with picnic tables, camp sites, a hiking trail,
and the remains of a old Hawaiian temple of healing.
Malaekahana State Recreation Area
A forest and beach park near Laie and the Polynesian
Cultural Center with picnic tables, camp sites,
cabins, and a pavilion that can be rented for special
events.
Sand Island State Recreation Area
A grassy waterside park off the Nimitz Highway
in Honolulu, with a sandy beach, picnic tables,
camp sites, views of Honolulu and Waikiki,
and a nearby boat ramp.
Wa'ahila Ridge State Recreation Area
A park on a ridge high above Honolulu with a
Norfolk pine forest and views of
the Manoa Valley and the Palolo Valley. Facilities
including picnic tables and hiking trails.
Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area
The Wahiawa Reservoir is surrounded by the Wahiawa Freshwater
State Recreation Area and it is most popular for freshwater
fishing.
