Hawaii State Monuments on Oahu

State of Hawaii monuments on the island of Oahu include Diamond Head, the Iolani Palace, the Kukaniloko Birthstones, Puu Mahuka Heiau, the Royal Mausoleum, and Ulu Po Heiau.

Diamond Head State Monument
In this park you can climb up 100 steps to the top of Diamond Head Crater, the most famous landmark in Hawaii. You can also have a picnic in a meadow on the crater floor.

Iolani Palace State Monument
The Iolani Palace was built in 1882 by King David Kalakaua. It is now a museum and a state of Hawaii historic monument.

Kukaniloko Birthstones State Monument
A place where Hawaiian royalty came for the birth of a child to assure its high-ranking status. This is one of the most important cultural and historic sites in Hawaii.

Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau State Monument
This is largest heiau (ancient religous site) on the island of Oahu, it is located in a 6 acre park near Pupukea Town. Pu'u o Mahuka Heiau is located high on a hill above Waimea Valley on Oahu's north shore.

Royal Mausoleum State Monument
The Royal Mausoleum State Monument marks the burial site of Hawaiian royalty, including Kamehameha and Kalakaua dynasties.

Ulupo Heiau State Monument
Ulupo Heiau State Monument is an 8 acre park surrounding the ruins of a large, open platform style heiau. The monument is located in Kailua Town on the windward coast of Oahu.
