The Regions of Oahu

Facts, history, visitor attractions, towns, and general information about the different regions of the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

South Oahu
This is the area between Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point. Some of the areas most popular attractions include Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Diamond Head Crater, Hanauma Bay, the Bishop Museum, and the Manoa Valley.

East Oahu (Windward Oahu)
The area from Makapuu Point to the Town of Laie is on the wet side of the island and the area is lush and tropical. Attractions in this area include the Makapuu Lighthouse Trail, Sea Life Park, the Kualoa Ranch, the Byodo-In Japanese Temple, and several beautiful white sand family and windsurfing beaches.

North Oahu
The northshore of Oahu includes the area from the town of Laie on the east side to Kaena Point on the west side. Popular attractions include the Polynesian Cultural Center, several world famous big wave surfing beaches, funky Haleiwa Town, and the Kahuku shrimp trucks.

West Oahu (Leeward Oahu)
This area includes the dry side of the island from Kaena Point to Ewa Beach. Visitor attractions in this area include the Koolina Lagoons, Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, and Makaha Beach Park.

Central Oahu
The main towns in the central par tof oahu, between the Koolau Mountains and the Waianae Mountains, are Aiea, Mililani, Pearl City, Wahiawa, and Waipahu. Some of the most popular visitor attractions include Pearl Harbor, Hawaii's Plantation Village and the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Central Oahu Pineapple Field
