Oahu Marine Life Conservation Districts

Information about Marine Life Conservation Districts off of Oahu Island that were designated by the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Aquatic Resources.

Hanauma Bay Marine Life Conservation District
Hanauma Bay Marine Life Conservation District
The first Marine Life Conservation District designated by the State of Hawaii was established at Hanauma Bay in 1967. The Hanauma Bay6 protected area is more then 100 acres in size and it includes all of the submerged lands and overlying waters of the bay beginning at the shoreline high water mark.


Pupukea Marine Life Conservation District
The Pupukea Marine Life Conservation District was established on the north shore of Oahu in 1983. It includes all of the submerged lands and overlying waters from Waimea to Kulaloa Point. Waimea Bay, Three Tables Cove, Shark's Cove, Pupukea Beach Park, and the Pupukea Tide Pools are all within the protected area.

Waikiki Marine Life Conservation District
Waikiki Life Conservation District
The Waikiki Marine Life Conservation District is 76 acres in size and it was established in 1988. It is bounded by the Kapahulu Groin in the west and the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium in the east. Queen's Beach, Kapiolani Beach Park, and the Waikiki Aquarium are inside or adjacent to the protected area.
