Brothers in Valor Memorial
Information about the Brothers in Valor Memorial in Waikiki on
the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The memorial recognizes the
contributions of Japanese Americans who served in the
United States Armed Forces during World War II.

Located on a 5100 square foot site at Kalakaua Avenue and
Saratoga Road in Waikiki.
Includes time capsules with scrolls listing
names of the soldiers killed in action, all
of the members of the four Army units honored
by the memorial, all all of those who contributed
to building the memorial.
The artist who created the sculpture
was Bumpei Akaji, a a veteran of the 442nd.
Made of black marble
Monument was dedicated on July 4, 1998.
The monument was conceived by
University of Hawaii professor Judy Weightman
after she interviewed U.S. Japanese soldiers
who liberated the Dachau concentration camp in
Germany at the end of World War II.
