Oahu Aquariums

Aquariums on the island of Oahu, including the University of Hawaii's Waikiki Aquarium, the 3-story Oceanarium at the Pacific Beach Hotel, and the Hawaiian Reef Aquarium at Sea Life Park. This section also includes a picture of the now closed walk-through aquarium at the Waikiki DFS Galleria.

The Waikiki Aquarium was founded in 1904 and it is located at the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Boulevard. It exhibits more then 450 species of aquatic animals and plants and it receives more then 350,000 visitors a year.

Oceanarium at the Pacific Beach Hotel
The 280,000 gallon aquarium at the Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki is three stories tall and it can be viewed from three different restaurants in the hotel. It was built in 1979 and it houses more then 400 varieties of sealife.

DFS Galleria Aquarium
DFS Galleria Walk-Through Aquarium (closed in 2007)
A picture of the 65,000 gallon, multi-story aquarium that in the DFS Galleria that was torn down in 2007. The aquarium was known as "The Tube" because people can walk through it and view manta rays and other fish swimming above and on both sides.

Hawaiian Reef Aquarium at Sea Life Park
The 300,000 gallon aquarium at Sea Life Park on the southeast tip of Oahu is home to more then 2000 reef fish, plants, and other sealife, including sharks, sting rays, turtles, and tropical fish. Visitors to Sea Life Park can wear underwater breathing apparatus and descend to the bottom of the tank.
