Kayaking on Oahu

Articles and information about kayaking on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, including kayak rentals, shops, clubs, and companies who organize guided Oahu kayaking tours. It is possible to rent kayaks in Waikiki, but some of the best places on Oahu to go kayaking are in Kailua Bay on the eastern windward side of the island.

Guided Kayaking Tours on Oahu
Several companies offer guided and unguided kayaking tours in Kailua Bay, on the eastern windwad side of Oahu. Tours last from two hours to all day and they are available for all levels of paddlers, from beginning to advanced. All of these tours include round transportation from Waikiki.

Shops in Honolulu, Kailua, and other parts of Oahu where you can buy a kayak or kayaking supplies. Some of these shops also rent kayaks.

About Kayaking in Kailua Bay
Kailua Bay on the windward side of Oahu is one of the best places in Hawaii for kayaking. there are several kayak rental shops in that area and kayaks are often launched off of Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach. Much of Kailua Bay has a flat, sandy bottom and the Mokulua Islands off the coast can be reached by kayak in one hour or less. The wind and water in Kailua Bay is typically calm, and the calmest of all in the morning before the trade winds pick up.
