Kalakaua Dynasty

The House of Kalakaua was a family of chiefs on the island of Kauai who ascended the royal thrown of Hawaii when the males of the House of Kamehameha died out. The Kalakaua Dynasty ruled over Hawaii from 1874, when King David Kalakaua ascended the thrown until 1893 when Queen Liliuokalani was overthrown. If Queen Liliuokalani had not been overthrown, the heirs to the thrown would have been her sister Queen Likelike, then her daughter Princess Kaiulani, and then her cousin Princess Kuhio Kinoike Kekaulike.
