Introduction to the Hotel Molokai
Molokai Island, Hawaii

The Hotel Molokai is a waterfront, polynesian village and tiki torch style hotel on the south coast of central Molokai. The hotel is about 1.5 miles outside the town of Kaunakakai and it has a waterfront restaurant, bar, and swimming pool.

The rooms at the Hotel Molokai are in two story buildings set in a tropical garden or facing the water. Facilities and amenities on the grounds include an oceanfront swimming pool, a restaurant, a bar, a coin operated laundry, a convenience store, and a meeting room. Parking is free for hotel guests.

Hula Shores Restaurant and Lounge
There is an ocean view restaurant and bar on on the hotel grounds that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, and drinks seven days a week. The restaurant's Aloha Friday Sunset Celebration takes place every week and it features live musicians, hula dancers, storytellers, and local crafts. Every Sunday the restaurant serves a Paniolo Barbecue Buffet.

Accommodations at the Hotel Molokai
Rooms at the Hotel Molokai have private lanais, cable televisions, and ceiling fans, and a few of them have kitchenettes. Room categories are:
-Standard Room ($130-$150)
-Deluxe Room, Garden View ($170)
-Deluxe Room, Oceanfront ($180)
-Deluxe Room, Garden View, Kitchenette ($190)
-Honeymoon Suite (205)

The hotel grounds can be booked for weddings and other special events with up to 250 people. The hotel's Bamboo Room can be booked for meetings with up to 50 people.

Note that all of the units at the Hotel Molokai are privately owned so interior decor is not the same from room to room.

History of the Hotel Molokai
The Hotel Molokai was built in the 1960's by architect Frank Roberts who was also the first owner. The closed down for a time but it underwent some improvements in 1998 and it reopened in 1999. The hotel was renovated again in 2004. Some sources say the hotel has 37 rooms, some say it has 45 rooms, and some say it has 92 rooms. The hotel is currently owned by Jerry Johnson and Kirk Hansen and it is operated by Marc Resorts.

How to Get To Molokai
Most visitors to Molokai either take a 20 minute flight from Honolulu on the island of Oahu or a 90 minute ferry ride from the island of Maui.
