A guide to events on island of Maui in Hawaii
that typically take place in the month of April.
East Maui Taro Festival
Annual Festival in the remote east Maui town
of Hana that is focused on the taro plant.
Activities typically include taro symposiums,
a taro pancake breakfast, tours of the
Kahanu Gardens and Heiau, tours of the
Kapahu Living Taro Farm, and an all day festival
at the Hana Ball Park with
hula performances, Hawaiian music,
cultural demonstrations, arts and crafts, a farmer's market,
and food booths serving taro dishes.
Lahaina Banyan Tree Birthday Celebration
The historic banyan tree in downtown Lahaina was
planted on April 24, 2973 and every year around
that time there is a celebration in Banyan Tree
Park honoring the tree with a birthday cake, arts
and crafts, and food. There is also usually
a display of items related to the tree at the
Lahaina Heritage Museum upstairs in the Old Lahaina Courthouse.
Heiva and Tahiti Fete of Maui
The 11th Annual Heiva i Maui took
place August 8-10, 2008 at the Maui War Memorial
Gymnasum in Wailuku, Maui.
Maui Scholastic Surfing Championship
Maui Celebration of the Arts
This annual event at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua Hotel
is a tribute to the Hawaiian traditions and arts.
Activities include cultural seminars, arts and crafts
demonstrations, Hawaiian music, and a luau with
traditional foods and entertainment.
In past years this event has taken place in either
April or March.
Former Maui March Events
Ulupalakua Thing
Agriculture trade show held every year on Maui
from 1992 through 2004. Event was co-organized
and co-sponsored by the Ulupalakua Ranch and the
Maui Agricultural Foundation. Event was a rundraiser
for the Maui Community college Agriculture Department
and Culinary Arts Program, for Maui 4-H Clubs and
for the Maui County Farm Bureau.
The event was originally called the Maui Agricultural
Trade Show.
