Introduction to the Regions of Maui

Information about the different regions of Maui. Maui is shaped something like a figure eight lying on its side. The smaller loop is known as West Maui and the larger loop is known as East Maui. The area between the loops is known as the Isthmus of Maui.

West Maui
Includes the whaling town of Lahaina, the resort development of Kaanapali, and the natural features of northwest Maui, including the Waihee Valley and Maui's northwest beaches and trails.

East Maui
Includes south central Maui, southeast Maui, northeast Maui, upcountry Maui, and Haleakala National Park.

Central Maui
Includes the communities and regions in the narrow strip of land that separates east and west Maui, and the bays on both ends of the Isthmus of Maui.
