Airports on Maui

There are three airports on the island of Maui, the main airport in Kahului (OGG), the Hana Airport in east Maui (HNM) and the Kapalua Airport in West Maui (JHM).

Kahului Airport (OGG) (Main Maui Airport)
Maui's main airport is located on the northern side of the Isthmus of Maui, the thin strip of land that separates East Maui and West Maui. Kahului Airport is about 1400 acres in size and it is situated about three miles east of Kahului Town. Facilities at Kahului Airport include two intersecting runways and full air carrier facilities for domestic overseas and inter-island commercial flights. The airport also has separate general aviation operations and helicopter operations.

Kapalua Airport (JHM) (West Maui Airport)
At one time the Kapalua Airport was a private airport but at some point it was acquiried by the state of Hawaii. The airport has a single runway, terminal facilities, and some support facilities, but no air cargo facilities. The access road to the airport is a two-lane road off of Honoapiilani Highway. The Kapalua Airport only serves commercial propeller air carriers and and air taxi and commuter flights. The Kapalua Airpot

HanaAirport (HNM) (East Maui Airport)
This 119 acre airport on the east coast of Maui is located about three miles northwest of Hana Town. Hana Airport only has one runway which suports both the passenger terminal and general aviation. The airport's support buildings and facilities are located south of the runway. The access road to Hana Airport is Alalele place. If this airport becomes busier in the future, impvovements may include building a taxiway next to the runway, widening the airport access road, and expanding the passenger terminal and parking facilities.
