Maui Activities for Kids

The best attractions and activities for kids and families on the island of Maui in Hawaii.

Aquariums on Maui
A lovely aquarium called the Maui Ocean Center was opened near the town of Wailuku, Maui in March 1998. The aquarium featurse one of the largest live coral displays in the United States and live displays of sea turtles, sharks, rays, and other sealife.

Caves to Explore on Maui
Older teens will enjoy touring the Kaeleku Caverns located about four miles northwest of the remote town on Hana on Maui's east coast. Participants in the one hour walking tour and the two hour adventure must be age 15 or older.

Haleakala National Park
Activities for kids at Haleakala National Park include naturalist guided hikes, a Junior Ranger program, camping, picnicing, swimming, skywatching, birdwatching, and Native Hawaiian culture educational programs.

Horseback Riding on Maui
Maui is a great place for horseback riding because of it's rich cattle ranching history. There are Maui horseback riding ranches and stables in the West Maui Mountains, on the north coast of Maui, on the slopes of Mount Haleakala, and near Lahaina, Makena, and the remote east coast town of Hana.

Miniature Golf Courses on Maui
The last time I checked there was only one miniature golf course on Maui Island, at the Maui Golf and Sports Park near the Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea.

Pineapple Plantation Tour
Children age five and older can participate in one of the two pineapple plantation tours organized by the Kapalua Resort. Both tours include picking your own pineapple to keep and the longer tour includes lunch at one of the Kapalua Resort's restaurants. Tours begin at the Kapalua Resort on the northwest coast of Maui.
