Cycle to the Sun
The route for this annual uphill cycling race on Maui
begins at Baldwin Beach in the town of Paia and it climbs 36 miles to the
10,000 foot summit of the dormant Haleakala Volcano.
The "Cycle to the Sun" bicycle race first took place in the 1980's
but then it was not held for quite a few years.
It was resurrected again in 2001.
