Town of Lanai City
Lanai City is an historic plantation town in the center of the island of Lanai,
at an elevation of approximately 1650 feet.
It was built as a plantation town in 1924 and it is the only town on the island
of Lanai. Today Lanai City looks much as it did during the plantation era and it
is considered by many to be the
Lanai City is an Endangered Historic Site
The U.S. National Trust for Historic Preservation included
Lanai City on their 2009 list of America's 11 Most Endangered
Historic Places.
