Hiking Trails on Lanai Island

Information about hiking trails on Lanai Island in Hawaii.

Koloiki Ridge Trail

Munro Trail Trail

Puu Pehe Trail
Short trail from Holopoe bay to Puu Pehe, also known as "Sweetheart Rock", a United States national historic place and historic landmark. The hike typically takes about 15 or 20 minutes each way.

Hulopoe-Huawai Fishing Trail
Difficult hiking trail extending from Hulopoe Beach to the Huawai Gulch. The trail is about 2 miles each way with an elevation change of about 140 feet.

The Koloiki Ridge portion of the Munro Trail is a moderately difficult trail that is about five miles round trip, and typically takes about three hours to hike. The trail winds along the ridge above the Kaiholena Valley to an area known as the Cathedral of Pines. After that it descends into the Hulopoe Valley to the Kukui Gulch, and then through bare hills and a tunnel of branches to the Koloiki Ridge. From there ridge there are beautiful views of Maui Island, Molokai Island, the Maunalei Valley, and Naio Gulch.

Near the Garden of the Gods there is a self-guided hiking trail through the 462 acre Kanepuu Preserve.

The Lanai Fisherman Trail meanders along the rocky coastline below the Four Seasons at Manele Resort and along the edge of the resort's golf course. The trail entrance is located on the west end of Hulopoe Beach and it is marked. It usually takes about 1.5 hours to hike this trail, but I'm not sure if that is one way or round trip.

The short Puu Pehe Trail begins on the left side of Hulopoe Beach as you are facing the ocean and it travels along the coastline, then up a rocky rise. When you arrive at the top you are on the same level as the Puu Pehe Stack and you can see miles and miles of Lanai's coast in both directions.
