Merrie Monarch Festival
Hula competition and festival held for more than 50 years in the town of Hilo on the east coast of Hawaii Island. The week-long event is held every year, in March or April, beginning on Easter Morning.

Great Waikoloa Ukulele Festival
Annual festival features a concert and master ukulele makers. Held at the King's Shops in Waikoloa.

Kona Brewers Festival
Craft beer brewery and gourmet food tasting event at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel in Kailua-Kona.

Sports Events

Big Island International Marathon
An annual running marathon that takes place on the east side of the Big Island, on the coast north of Hilo.

Kona Stampede Rodeo
The Kona Roping Club has organized this rodeo every year since 1964. About 250 contestants participate. Events include bull riding, calf roping, team roping, breakaway roping, and many other rodeo events. The rodeo typically lasts two days.
