Information about Kawaihae Harbor in the South Kohala Region, on the northwest shore of Hawaii Island. Kawaihae Harbor was dredged and constructed between 1957 and 1959 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. A small small boat harbor was constructed south of the main harbor entrance in 1970.
