Romantic Inns on the Big Island
A selection of very romantic inns, hotels, cottages, and
bed and breakfast accommodations on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Includes a secluded and luxurious beach front Polynesian
style village, cottages in a volcanic rainforest, and
two historic inns near Hilo.
Kona Village
Accommodations at this exclusive 82 acre
beach front resort on Kahuwai bay are in Polynesian style hales,
located either on the sand, in a grassy area, in
a tropical jungle area, or on a black rock
former lava flow. Room rates include breakfast,
lunch, and dinner, a Friday luau, a Tuesday Mai
Tai Reception, box lunches or vouchers for local restaurants when you are away
for the day, use of tennis courts, fitness center, snorkeling
equipment, kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, guided
outrigger canoe excursions, and special activities.
Wedding ceremony packages are available
that include the ceremony, wedding license,
bridal bouquet, photographs, leis for the bride and groom,
a wedding cake, music, and a romantic candlelit
dinner for two, either on the beach or in your room.
More expensive packages include live music, a hula
dancer, flower petal toss, conch ceremony, videographer,
and leis for guests.
Shipman House
Five rooms are available in this 1899 Victorian
style bed and breakfast inn
located five blocks from historic downtown Hilo
and three blocks from the Lyman Mission House Museum.
Accommodations are in large rooms with private bathrooms,
small refrigerators, antique furnishings, ceiling
fans, and either one queen size or two twin size
beds. A continental breakfast is included in the rates
and it will typically include items such as
macadamia nut granola, assorted local fruits,
fresh fruit juice, Kona coffee, and special breads
or muffins. Sometimes hot items such as baked bananas
or hashed brown taro or breadfruit will be served.
Palms Cliff House
A Victorian style plantation inn located in the small
town of Honomu, which is north of Hilo and close to
Akaka Falls, on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island.
Eight large, luxury suites are available, with either
king or queen size beds. Four of the suites have
fireplaces and large, in-room Jacuzzi tubs located in
a round alcove overlooking the ocean. All rooms have televisions,
satellite receivers, DVD players, ceiling fans,
small refrigerators, and private marble bathrooms.
Wedding packages are available, and weddings can be held
in the main house with the bride coming down a flower draped
stairway or outdoors, on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Volcano Rainforest Retreat
These beautifully furnished cottages
in a lush tropical rainforest near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park have
amenities such as open beam ceilings, gas
fireplaces, entertainment centers, queen size beds,
kitchens, and private bathrooms.
Room rates include a breakfast of tropical fruit,
baked goods, granola, and quiche. Special couples
retreats and meditation retreats are sometimes held here.
Volcano Teapot Cottage
This two bedroom plantation style cottage
near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has
a full kitchen, a gas fireplace, a four poster
bed in the master bedroom, down comforters,
a claw foot bathtub, and a front porch for relaxing.
A continental breakfast is provided daily
and you can have a gourmet dinner prepared
by one of the expert chefs in nearby
Volcano Village and delivered right to your door.
