2008 Ironman Hawaii Triathlon
Kona, Hawaii

Athletes from more then 50 countries and all 50 of the United States competed at the 32nd Iron Hawaii Triathlon in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii October 11, 2008. The event featured a 2.4 mile ocean swim, a 112 mile bicycling course, and a 26.2 mile run.

Congratulations to the 2008 Ironman World Champions
Australia's Craig Alexander and Great Britain's Chrissie Wellington celebrated first-place titles at the 30th anniversary of the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Alexander, who finished in 2nd place at the 2007 Ironman Triathlon, crossed the line with a time of 8:17:45. Wellington defended her 2007 world championship title by finishing more than ten minutes ahead of her fellow competitors with a time of 9:06:23, in spite of experiencing a flat tire during the cycling portion of the race.
