A guide to all types of food festivals on the Big
Island of Hawaii.
Big Island Festival
The Big Island Festival is a food and wine celebration
at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort
on the northwest coast of the Big Island. The event
is usually held in November, and it typically includes
live entertainment, an exhibition of Big Island products,
a paniolo barbeque, a tour and luncheon at the Natural
Energy Laboratory of Hawaii, and gourmet food and wine
tastings and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
Kona Brewer's Festival
This March beer brewing festival took place
for the first time in 1996. It typically features
30 breweries pouring 60 different types of beer
and a gourmet food tasting with items prepared
by Hawaii's restaurant chefs.
Kona Chocolate Festival
The annual Kona Chocolate Festival includes an
evening tasting event with live entertainment that
features a chocolate tasting competition,
a chocolate fondue fountain, sparkling wine,
specialty beers. There will also be a
multiple day chocolate symposium with tours,
seminars for farmers, and classes for
chefs and chocolate fans.
Kona Coffee Cultural Festival
This November coffee and food festival on the west coast of the Big
Island is more the 35 years old.
Its events are spread out over 7 to 10 days, and they
include, food and coffee tastings, a coffee farm tour,
a coffee recipe contest, a coffee picking contest, a coffee
cupping contest, coffee roasting workshops, a Miss Kona Coffee
pageant, concerts, a golf tournament, and more.
