entertainment. Held at the
Hawaii Community college and the
University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Lavaman Triathlon
Part of the annual Lavaman Triathlon
and Sports Festival that includes
an awards party and beach barbecue on
anaehoomalu Bay. Events include
a 10k run, 40k bike, and 1.5k swim.

this 3.5 mile walking event in Kailua-Kona
is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes.

Merrie Monarch Festival
Huge annual hula competitoin
held at the Hilo
Civic Center in March and April.
Panaewa Scholarship Rodeo
Two day rodeo held every year at the Panaewa Equestrian Center
in Hilo. Profits from ticket sales and
food sales finance two $2000 college
scolarships for Hawaii Island students
of Portuguese ancestry. For more information
