Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge
The Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge is located on the
windward side of Mount Mauna Kea on the Big Island
of Hawaii. It was established in 1985 to protect and manage endangered
forest birds and their rain forest habitat. It is located
on the windward side of It is approximately 32,700 acres in size.
The refuge is home to several endangered birds and plants.
