North Hawaii Island Budget Hotels

Hotel Honokaa hotel built in 1908 in the town of Honokaa as a club for plantation managers. Has private rooms, two bedroom suites, and hostel style dormatories.

East Hawaii Island Budget Hotels

Arnott's Lodge
Offers both private rooms and shared hostel-style rooms. Rates range from about $30 for a bed in a shared room room to about $100 for a deluxe suite with a kitchenette. Also offers camp sites for guests that bring their own tents. Arnott's also offers affordable adventure tours in ans or 25-passenger mini-buses. Arnott's Lodge is located about 4 miles east of Hilo near the Hilo International Airport, at 98 Apapane Road.

Hilo Seaside Hotel
135-room hotel with a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, two meeting rooms, air conditioning, on-site laundry facilities. Rooms have lanais, refrigerators, and coffee makers. Room rates range from about $100 to $150, depending on the category of the room. Situated at the base of Reed's Bay at 126 Banyan Way in the town of Hilo.

Wild Ginger Hotel and Hostel
Offers very basic, budget accommodations inside a 1920's era sugar plantation worker's hosue that was converted to a 27-room inn in the 1950's. Rates range from about $30 for a bed in a shared room to about $120 for their most expensive private hotel room. Less expensive accommodations are available in in the hotel's outdoor shared and private units. Room rates include a continental breakfast. Located at 100 Puueo Street in the town of Hilo.

West Hawaii Island Budget Hotels

Kona Tiki Hotel
Small, 15 or 16 room, oceanfront, boutique hotel with a swimming pool, barbecues, and refrigerators in the rooms. Built in the 1950's. Room rates range from about $90 to $180, depending on the room category, the season, and whether or not the room has a kitchenette. Rates include a continental breakfast. Located at 75-5968 Alii Drive in the town of Kailua Kona on the west coast of the Big Island. Note that the hotel does not have air conditioning, phones, televisions, or laundry facilities. Note also that if you want a quiet environment, this hotel is famous for the sound of waves crashing on the seawall. See also their Facebook Page

Kona Islander Inn
100-room hotel with a swimming pool, hot tub, barbecue area, and laundry facilities. Accommodations are in studio units with kitchenettes and lanais. Located across Alii Drive from the ocean and some of the rooms have ocean views. Room rates range from about $80 to $150 per night, depending on the room category, the view, and the season. Located at 75-5776 Alii Drive Kailua-Kona. Note that this hotel does not have daily maid service and wireless Internet is only available in the lobby.

Manago Hotel
Motel with a popular on-site restaurant and free parking. Rates range from about $40 for a single room with a shared bathroom to about $90 for their Japanese style room. Located at 82-6155 Mamalahoa Highway in the town of Captain Cook.

Volcano Area Budget Hotels

Holo Holo In Hostel and Budget Hotel
Rates range from about $30 per night for a bed in a shared room to about $90 for a private room with a private bathroom. Prices include sheets, pillowcases, and blankets but there is an extra charge for towels. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are also included in the rates. Note that there is daytime lockout period from 11:00 to 4:30 when the rooms are cleaned. Located at 19-4036 Kalani Honua Road in Volcano Village.
