Kilauea Volcano
This is the youngest volcano on the Big Island of
Hawaii, and it is one of the most active volcanoes
in the world.

Mauna Loa Volcano
This huge volcano covers half of the
Big Island of Hawaii. It has erupted
33 times since its first documented
eruption in 1843, and its most recent
eruption was in 1984. It is still considered
an active volcano.
Mauna Kea
This volcano located on the north coast of
the Big Island is the tallest volcano in Hawaii.
It probably began forming about 1 million years
ago, and its most recent eruption was probably
between 4,000 and 6,000 years ago.
Hualalai
This volcano on the west central coast of the
Big Island is the third most active volcano
on that island. Hualalai last erupted in the early 1800's,
but many scientists believe it is likely to to erupt
again one day.
Kohala
This volcanoon the northwest tip of the Big Island
is the oldest volcano on that island. It emerged
above sea level about 500,000 years
ago and it last erupted about 120,000 years ago.
Lo'ihi
This Hawaii's youngest active undersea volcano.
It is located on the sea floor south of Kilauea,
about 30 miles off shore.
East Maui Volcano (Haleakala)
This volcano on the island of Maui is
considered domant, since it last erupted sometime
between 1500 and 1800, but it is not yet considered
extinct.
