Slack Key Guitar Festivals in Hawaii
The first Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival organized
by event producer Milton Lau was held in 1982 as a tribute
to the late Gabby Pahinui and it was officially called the
Gabby Pahinui Slack Key Guitar Festival. Today the
Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival is a group
of one-day music festivals that take place on four
different islands.

Maui Slack Key Guitar Festival
The 18th Annual "Maui Style" Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival
will take place at the Maui Arts Center Amphitheater
on June 21, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is Free.

Oahu Slack Key Guitar Festival
The 27th Annual "Oahu Style" Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar
Festival will take place August 16, 2009, from
12 noon to 6:00 pm and admission is free.
The 2008 festival took place in the
Kapiolani Park Bandstand in the past the event has also taken
place in the McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Park.
The venue for 2009 Oahu Slack Key Guitar Festival
has not yet been announced.

Kona Slack Key Guitar Festival
The 17th Annual "Kona Style" Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar
Festival on the Big Island of Hawaii will take place on
September 6, 2009, on the Great Hawaii Lawn of the
Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, from 12 noon to 5:00 pm.
This festival usually takes place every year on the Sunday
before Labor Day. Admission is Free.
