Hawaii's Obama Inaugural Balls

Here is information about all of the Hawaii-related Obama inaugural balls and other inaugural events that will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2009 and on the evening of President Obama's inauguration day, Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Hawaii's Obama Inauguration Day Events in DC

Obama Home States Inaugural Ball (Washington Convention Center)
This is one of the ten official inaugural balls organized by the Presidential Inauguration Committee and it is the event President is mostly like - almost certain - to attend. The event is being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Tickets are $150 but they are not available to the general public, only to invited guests from President Obama's home states of Hawaii and Illinois.

Hawaii State Society Inaugural Ball (Mandarin Oriental Hotel)
This event organized by the Hawaii State Society of Washington DC was one of the first inaugural balls to be announced and it sold out almost immediately It will be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington DC, tickets are $200 per person, and up to 1000 people are expected to attend. It will take place in inauguration night, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. This event will feature an all-star lineup of Hawaii entertainers including Raiatea Helm, Eddie Kamae, the Aunty Genoa Keawe Ohana, Kohala, Walter Keale, and Donald Kaulia.

Inaugural Luau (Hotel Monaco)
The President Obama Inaugural Luau was organized by a group of friends who were traveling to Washington DC for the inauguration who were unable to get tickets for the Hawaii Society Ball unless they bought them from scalpers. It will take place at 6:00 p.m. on January 20, 2009 at the Hotel Monaco in Washington DC. The menu will feature Hawaiian food prepared by Maui's Chef Les Tomita and other food provided by the Hotel Monaco. Entertainers will include Hawaii's Maunalua and John Cruz.

Hawaii's Obama DC Events Before Inauguration Day

Hawaii for Obama Inaugural Gala (Hay Adams Hotel)
This event organized by the Hawaii Democratic Party and Hawaii for Obama will take place two days before the inauguration, on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., on the rooftop of the Hay Adams Hotel, across Lafayette Park from the White House. Attendees will include all four of Hawaii's congressional representatives and Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann. Asian and American cuisine will be featured and Hawaii's John Cruz will perform.

Aloha Inaugural Ball in Washington DC (Marriott Wardman Park Hotel)
The space for this Obama inaugural ball was booked by Gloria Borland in April of 2008, before Barack Obama was even elected. It will take place two days before Obama's inauguration, on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington DC. Tickets are $300 and $550 per person, and up to 8000 people are expected to attend. Entertainers will include George Clinton and his P-Funk All Stars, traditional Hawaiian music by Manu Ikaika, Jazz/Hawaiian fusion music by Brother Ah and the Aloha World Music Ensemble, and hula performances by Halau O Aulani and Halau Hoomau I Ka Wai Ola O Hawaii.

Hawaii Inaugural Events in Honolulu

Aloha Inaugural Ball in Hawaii (Royal Hawaiian Hotel)
This event organized by the Hawaii Democratic Party will take place in the Monarch Room of the newly reopened Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki, tickets are $250 and $1000 per person, and 600 to 1000 people are expected to attend. Entertainers will include Willie K, Jimmy Borges, and an all-star band that will be known for one night as the "Aloha Obama Yes We Can Band". The Royal Hawaiian is offering an Obama inauguration hotel room package that includes two tickets to the ball.

Inaugural Party for Barack Obama (Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii)
this event in the Manoa Grand Ballroom of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii is a fundraiser for the Hawaii Food Bank. Tickets cost $65 per person and guests fare asked to bring a canned food donation. Heavy appetizers will be served, there will be a no host bar, and entertainment will include Danny Carvalho and Freddie Alcantar.

Honolulu Rainbow Obama Inauguration Ball (Queen Kapiolani Hotel)
The Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Cultural Foundation is hosting an Obama inaugural ball in the Peacock Room of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Video feeds of the inauguration will be projected onto large screen and the event will also feature heavy appetizers, a no host bar, and continuous live entertainment. The event is a benefit for the Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Cultural Foundation, the sponsor of the 2009 Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival. Everyone is welcome, not only LBGT. Tickets are $40 per person.

Other Obama Inaugural Balls

The 10 Official Obama Inaugural Balls
Information about the ten official Barack Obama inaugural balls. These are the inauguration day event events Barack Obama will definitely attend. Five of the inaugural balls are being held at the Washington Convention Center, the other four locations are the National Building Museum, the Hilton Hotel, Union Station, and the D.C. Armory.
