Hatsumode in Hawaii
In Japan the first Shinto shrine visit of the new year is called "Hatsumode" and it is a tradition that can be observed every on January 1 in Hawaii by visiting Japan. It is a tradition that can be observed every year on the island of Oahu by visiting the shrines of Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha and Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu at 1239 Olomea Street in Honolulu. Usually the shrines serve bowls of Ozoni Mochi Soup to visitors from midnight to 2:00 am and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on New Year's Day.
