Narcissus Festival in Hawaii

Information about Narcissus Festival event sin Hawaii including the Narcissus Queen Pageant and the Royal Court and lion dance procession through Chinatown Honolulu.

2007 Hawaii Narcissus Festival (February 16, 2007)
The 58th annual Narcissus Festival will take place in Honolulu's Chinatown on Friday, February 16, 2007 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The newly elected Narcissus Queen, her court, and the lion blessing will start at 42 North King Street and proceed through Chinatown, visiting local businesses. Shops will participate by lighting firecrackers and offering good luck money envelopes to the lions. The procession will end at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza where there will be food vendors, arts and crafts, and entertainment.

2007 Narcissus Queen Pageant (January 20, 2007)
The 58th annual Narcissus Queen Pageant will take place at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.

About the Narcissus Queen Pageant
The Hawaii Narcissus Queen Pageant usually takes place in mid-January. Contestants must be at least half Chinese, a resident of Hawaii, and between the ages of 19 and 26 years old. They are judged in four areas: a talent competition, a cheong sam gown competition, a question and answer session on Chinese history and traditions, and a private interview with the judges.
