2009 Aloha Festival in Hawaii
In 2009, all of the official Aloha Festival events will
be held on the island of Oahu due to funding constraints.
This page includes descriptions of all of the
2009 Aloha Festivals events on Oahu Island.
The 2009 Hawaii Aloha Festival will be the 62nd annual
event and in 2009 the event theme is "Hula".
Royal Court Investiture and Opening Ceremony
The Royal Court Investiture and Opening Ceremony
for the 2009 Hawaii Aloha Festivals will take
place on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.
on the grounds of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort
in Waikiki.
Aloha Festivals Waikiki Hoolaulea
The 57th Annual Aloha Festivals Waikiki Hoolaulea
(street festival) will take place on Kalakaua
Avenue in Waikiki on Saturday, September 19, 2009,
beginning at about 7:00 p.m. There will be three
stages featuring live Hawaiian music and hula
performances, lots of food, lei vendors, and arts and crafts.
on Kalakaua Avenue, between Lewers and Kapahulu.
Approximately 15,000 people are expected to attend. During
the event Kalakaua Avenue will be closed
to motorized traffic between Lewers Street
and Kapahulu Avenue.
Aloha Festivals Floral Parade
The 2009 Aloha Festivals Floral Parade
will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2009
from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. The parade route
will begin at Ala Moana Park and end in the
Waikiki Shell parking Lot in Kapiolani Park.
The parade is expected to have approximately
15 floats, 10 bands, and 40 vehicles.
Hapa Haole Hula and Music Festival
In 2008 the Hapa Haole Hula and Music Festival
was an official Aloha Festivals event. It took
place in the Kapiolani Park Bandstand
after the Aloha Festivals Floral Parade.
The dates of the 2009 Hapa Haole Festival have
not been announced and I am not yet sure it
will be an Aloha Festivals event in 2009.
Aloha Tower Marketplace Ukulele Contest
In 2008 the Aloha Tower Ukulele Contest
took place on Sunday September 14, 2009 and
it was an official Aloha Festivals event.
The 2009 event date has not yet been announced.
Pearlridge Center Keiki Hoolaulea
In 2008 there was an Aloha Festivals Keiki Hoolaulea
(festival for kids) at Pearlridge Shopping Center.
No date has been announced yet for a similar 2009 event.
