Bellows Field was founded in 1917 and at the time it was known as the Waimanalo Military Reservation. In 1933 it was renamed "Bellows Field" after World War I hero Lieutenant Franklin Barney Bellows. It became a permenant military post in July of 1941, only a few months before it was attacked by Japanese fighter planes on December 7, 1941.

Bellows Field Today
Today Bellows Field is training area for military personnel and a recreational area for active and retired military. The beach at Bellows Field is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays.
